"El Tejon" The Badger $2,800.00

John Gilliam was born and raised in northern Utah where he lived and worked on ranches for many years. He always had a keen eye for beauty and detail which served him well as he immersed himself in art in the early 80's. His first subjects emerged from ranching experiences: "western art." As his life evolved so did his body of work; various religious themes are becoming increasingly prominent. His Mother Teresa sculpture grew from his admiration for the message of simplicity, service, and prayer that she embodied. After completing a limited edition bust of Mother Teresa, John was commissioned to sculpt a life-size figure for a meditation garden adjoining the cathedral in Boise, Idaho. Another sculpture was received by Cardinal George in Chicago. The spirit and likeness of Mother Teresa that John captured has truly been an inspiration for those who have seen it. John's current passion centers on sculpting the Mysteries of the Rosary in bronze, first in small-scale models, and eventually life-size. "Rosary Reflections in Bronze" is non-profit organization dedicated to making this project a reality. John and his wife Judy currently live on the Clearwater River in northern Idaho in a southwest style house they built themselves. They have five grown sons. At home in his "Bear Paw Studio"; John continues to create images of his heritage, both western and religious.
